Intel Announces New AI-Focused Processors for Powering Next-Gen Laptops and Data Centers
Intel unveiled its latest processor families optimized for AI workloads, including the Intel Core Ultra mobile processor for laptops and the 5th Gen Intel Xeon processor for data centers. These new chips are designed to accelerate AI applications and make AI more pervasive.
The Intel Core Ultra mobile processor family brings powerful AI capabilities to laptops and PCs. With up to 25 times better power efficiency and an integrated AI accelerator, the Intel Core Ultra processors are ideal for running graphics-intensive AI tasks locally. Major laptop makers like Dell, HP, and Lenovo will be releasing laptops powered by Intel Core Ultra processors, enabling more people to leverage AI.
For data centers and cloud computing, the 5th Gen Intel Xeon processor family provides an AI boost. The new Xeon processors offer up to 42% higher AI performance, speeding up AI workloads. Next year, major cloud providers will launch services based on the 5th Gen Xeon processors.
Intel also revealed its Gaudi3 AI accelerator, designed specifically for large AI models and deep learning. The Gaudi3 accelerator is on track to launch next year.
At the event, Intel's CEO discussed the company's view that technology itself is neutral, but Intel aims to shape it "into a force for good." He predicts more AI processing will happen at the edge, with a few companies developing AI models and many companies then using those models for AI inferencing on their devices.
