Microsoft's New Copilot Plans Bring Generative AI to Individuals and SMBs

Microsoft has announced two new subscription plans for its AI assistant Copilot: Copilot Pro for power users and Copilot for Microsoft 365 for small and medium sized businesses. These new offerings provide access to advanced generative AI models and integrate Copilot into Microsoft's productivity apps.

Copilot Pro Features

The Copilot Pro plan provides individual subscribers with faster AI models like GPT-4 Turbo during peak times. Users can access Copilot across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote on PC, Mac, and iPad. The plan also includes an enhanced version of Image Creator for higher quality AI-generated images.

Copilot Pro will give access to Copilot GPT Builder when available, allowing users to create custom chatbots with natural language prompts. Overall, the Copilot Pro subscription is tailored for power users who want cutting edge generative AI capabilities synced across devices and Microsoft apps.

Copilot for Microsoft 365

Meanwhile, the new Copilot for Microsoft 365 subscription brings AI assistance to small and medium businesses. It can now be purchased for between 1 and 299 users, allowing integration with Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft 365 apps.

Key benefits for SMBs are Copilot's ability to streamline workflows and provide relevant information using data across the company's Microsoft products. Copilot for Microsoft 365 runs on Microsoft's enterprise-grade security and compliance tools.

Mobile Access

Users can now access Copilot on mobile through the new Copilot app for iOS and Android. It provides access to models like GPT-4 and Dall-E 3 for on-the-go AI assistance. Queries and conversations can be synced from mobile to desktop.

Later in 2024, the Microsoft 365 mobile app will also integrate Copilot features. This will allow access to the AI assistant directly within Microsoft's main mobile productivity app.

Our Hot Take

Microsoft is positioning itself at the forefront of making generative AI accessible for both casual and power users. With Copilot Pro and Copilot for Microsoft 365, it provides options tailored for individuals or businesses seeking AI assistance with workflows across devices. Seamless integration with Microsoft apps provides Copilot with ample user data to generate helpful insights. Competitors will need to ensure their AI offerings are equally user-friendly and integrated.
