Humane, an AI startup led by Sam Altman, announced the release of their first product - the Ai Pin. The Ai Pin is a wearable artificial intelligence device shipping in March 2024. For $699 upfront and $24 per month, users can access Humane’s proprietary AI through the Ai Pin.
The Ai Pin is powered by an undisclosed Snapdragon chipset and AI technology presumed to be OpenAI’s GPT-4. With its variety of sensors, camera, speaker and microphone, the Ai Pin acts as a quasi-smartphone focused on privacy. Although it has an outward-facing camera, Humane asserts it remains inactive unless explicitly activated by the user. Importantly, the Ai Pin does not respond to wake words and prioritizes user privacy.
The Ai Pin’s key features include the ability to compose and send messages as well as emails through voice commands alone. By speaking to the device, users can prompt it to generate drafts which then appear on its laser ink display. The display is viewable by simply extending one’s palm, allowing for convenient access to the Ai Pin’s AI-generated suggestions. If unsatisfied, users can provide additional voice prompts to modify the drafts to their liking.
Humane's Ai Pin provides fast access to information through its voice and laser ink technology. By handling menial tasks like composing messages, the Ai Pin allows users to focus on living in the present moment. Experience the world's first wearable computer powered by AI.
